Travel from Christchurch to Springfield and onto Mt Torlesse Station where we will begin our 4x4 adventure, you will get to 4x4 over two private high country stations Mt Torlesse Station and Rubicon Station situated at the foothills of the Canterbury plains. Return to Christchurch on the famous TranzAlpine train.

You will enjoy a 4x4 journey which will take you to some incredible viewing locations which will offer stunning views over the Waimak Gorge, the Canterbury plains and on a clear day all the way back to Christchurch and the Port Hills. Along the way your guide will give informative commentary regarding the farming operations and history of the properties.
After an exciting 1.5 hours of 4x4 driving and sightseeing we make our way down to Rubicon Valley Tourist Centre where you will get to experience the world famous jet spin as your jet boat takes you deep into the mighty Waimak Canyon through the foothills of the Southern Alps, the ultimate Christchurch jet boat experience.Travel through the crystal clear waters and enjoy the views of the great Southern Alps from where waterfalls drop to join the river, this jetboat experience offers a great combination of scenery and excitement, enjoy the breathtaking alpine scenery surrounding the Waimak River and hold on as the jetboat takes off on an exciting journey passing through low water and rapids, passing cliff faces and shingle banks.
After your exciting jet boat adventure you will board your 4x4 vehicle for an 1.5 hour 4x4 adventure over two private high country stations, Rubicon Station and Mt Torlesse Station. Here you will get to enjoy a 4x4 experience and also take in the spectacular views overlooking the Waimakariri River, the Canterbury plains and on a clear day all the way back to Christchurch and the Port Hills.
After a morning of action packed excitement you will enjoy a gourmet picnic lunch on the banks of the Waimakariri River. After lunch we will make our way to Porters Pass through the Canterbury high country and all the way to the centre of the Southern Alps, Arthurs Pass. At Arthurs Pass you will board the world famous TranzAlpine train for a relaxing 2 hour journey from Arthurs Pass back to Christchurch. Sit back and enjoy a beer or a wine while taking in the incredible views. Along this journey you will see epic vistas, travel the edge of the ice feed Waimakariri river, traversing the Southern Alps. The TranzAlpine is one of the world's great train journeys. Upon arriving into Christchurch you will be returned back to your Christchurch accommodation.

Great Day Out!
Breathtaking views from up on the mountainside as you go off-roading. Loved the jet boat ride!! Loved driving through lambing areas and seeing all the babies!! Too cute. The train ride home was scenic and relaxing. Host Andre was very knowledgeable, friendly & accommodating.

World class day with local flair
Took the inland safari tour and jet boat with Steve w and had an amazing day. Steve was extremely knowledgeable, passionate about his country and ensuring we had a great time. In addition to the listed attractions we find a few small side stops and he catered to our every need. Steve..loved the hokey pokey ice cream stop! Greg did our jet boat ride. He had everything we needed, boat was in excellent condition and we were very confident in his ability to navigate the boat in an ever changing river. My husband loves speed and thrills and I love nature and we both had a terrific time. Lunch was made by a local chef and was yummy. Lamb and sausages, variety of fresh salads, bread just out of the oven! Everyone was so educated the day flew....rivers, birds, sheep farming, movie making in nz......would do it again in a minute!

High country by 4 wheel drive
From our cruise ship we took a long scenic bus ride to the alpine region where we got on a 4wd vehicle for an exhilarating tour up and down the mountainside. The views were spectacular and the guide (I forgot his name) was great. I highly recommend this tour. P.S. after the 4wd we ate lunch at the farm and walked to the dock for a jet boat ride on the Waimakariri River. SUPER FUN.
